Plant Machinery Repairs
From difficult starting and loss of power to leaks, wear and breakdowns, we investigate faults and carry out practical mechanical repairs. Planned servicing and maintenance help keep your plant ready for work.
Agricultural equipment works hard and downtime matters. We diagnose mechanical problems, repair worn or failed parts and carry out routine servicing to help keep equipment working when you need it.
Mechanical repairs and maintenance for canal boats, including investigating engine and running problems, dealing with breakdowns and keeping essential equipment in service. Get in touch with the symptoms and we’ll discuss the next step.
From an engine that will not start to an ongoing mechanical issue, we provide hands-on fault finding, repairs and servicing for narrowboats. Our aim is to get you moving again and help prevent the same problem returning.
When the cause is not obvious, we work through the symptoms and check the relevant mechanical systems before recommending a repair. A clear diagnosis helps avoid replacing parts unnecessarily.
Regular checks, servicing and preventative maintenance can catch wear and developing faults before they cause a breakdown. We can discuss the equipment, its use and the work it needs.
Give a worn engine a new lease of life. We assess its condition, identify the source of the problem and discuss the reconditioning work needed before repairs begin. Contact us with the engine details for an individual assessment.
Dirty diesel can contain water, sediment and microbial contamination that blocks filters and affects engine performance. We clean the fuel tank and filter the diesel to help recover usable fuel, protect the fuel system and keep the tank in good order. Tell us about your tank and the symptoms so we can assess the right approach.
We assess, strip down and restore classic car engines with care for their original character. Tell us about the engine, its history and any known faults so we can discuss the work involved. Engines can be shipped to our workshop from anywhere by prior arrangement. Please contact us before dispatch.
LOLER & PUWER — looking beyond the lifting mechanism
A Thorough Examination is a detailed check of lifting equipment and its safety-critical parts by a competent person, followed by a written report.
For forklift trucks, the inspection must consider both the lifting equipment and other safety-related systems. Routine servicing and daily checks remain important, but they do not replace a Thorough Examination.
Contact Eastham Plant Ltd to discuss examinations for forklift trucks, materials handling equipment and lifting equipment. Send us the make, model, location and any previous examination details.
The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations cover the equipment and parts involved in lifting loads.
02
Other safety-related systems
PUWER 1998
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations also apply to lift trucks, including safety-related items such as brakes, steering and tyres.
A complete lift-truck examination considers both areas.
How Often Is an Examination Needed?
Unless a competent person’s examination scheme specifies a different interval, the usual LOLER intervals are:
12 monthsFor other lifting equipment, excluding lifting accessories.
6 monthsFor equipment used to lift people and for lifting accessories.
The equipment, use and conditions affect the examination schedule. Damage, major changes or other exceptional circumstances may also require an examination.
John has helped me out multiple times with issues on my boat, nothing was too much trouble, if I rang him with a problem he was there in no time at all, and any issues were sorted very quickly and at a really good price. He is a top guy, and his assistant is a good laugh and also knows her stuff. Would recommend them 110% any day.

350 V8 Engine Expertise
100% recommend John, he is the only person in the North West that I have found that can rebuild a 350 V8 small block engine. Very professional, nothing is too much trouble.

A Professional Inverter Installation
I found John approx 5 years ago after getting prices to fit a large inverter. Most of the people clearly didn't have a clue. I was recommended to John. He came on a Saturday with all fuses and large wires. He fitted my inverter to a professional standard. I was impressed and have used John ever since. He has a no-nonsense approach and is professional.

A True Master of His Craft
John Eastham from Eastham Plant Ltd is a true engineer. Not a mechanic, but a man that understands engines and engineering and the intricacies within.
I have come across people who have said they can fix my particular engine, however it has only been John that has mastered it. Through skill, perseverance and dogged determination.
A true master of his craft.
I recommend Eastham Plant Ltd 110%.

Trusted Care for Teal
John Eastham has looked after our cabin cruiser Teal, for the last few years after having been let down by many other marine engineers. he turns up when he says he will and he fixes the issue.
I have recommended him all over Facebook to other boaters.
Simply there is no-one better, even as good as in my eyes. If he ever retires, we will probably sell the boat.
Absolutely top bloke! Also, did you know he can sing??
